About Our Chief Instructor

Kenneth Bigbee has been training in martial arts for over two decades and has learned under the most amazing instructors in the world. He is proud to have served as a Navy S.E.A.L, which taught him about the depths of dedication, struggle, and training.

Coach Kenny is committed to making his classroom filled with happy, healthy, highly motivated, energetic people, all learning authentic martial arts technique. He promises that you will never feel intimidated, or physically vulnerable. Under no circumstances does he allow people with negative attitudes or actions. 

Regargless of age, skill, whether you are athletic or out of shape, you will immediately feel at home in his classes. 

Benefits of Jiu Jitsu

Practical and Effective

Every technique in BJJ has a direct, and real application to the world outside of the sport. In each class you will learn how to move your body in ways that also have applications in self defense, and other sports. Whether that be a technique that allows you to escape the hold of someone who is on top of you, or neutralizing an opponents reckless aggressiveness.

While this might sound intimidating, BJJ is a sport about simple and effective maneuvers, rather than over complication. If you can reach the same result with less effort, and more control. BJJ will always favor that method, making the sport much more about effective, intelligent movement, over recklessness.

Total Body Workout

Every move in BJJ has some connection to every part of your body. Reversing an opponent from on top of you, conceptually only takes a movement of your arm and leg. But in order to make that move as smooth as possible, it takes a certain grip in your offhand, a extending of the hips, and pushing with the opposite foot and leg in order to gain leverage over your opponent.

At the end of every session, as you are learning new techniques and applying them. You will feel as if your whole body has been utilized, and that is completely unique to the sport of BJJ. To get that same effect, you would have to spend the entire day at a standard gym, as you would in just an hour of BJJ.

Jiu Jitsu is for people who are bored of the gym

While at the gym have you ever felt like: "What's the point?". That feeling is probably due to the fact that its easy to lose sight of purpose, when their isn't any tangible application in front of you. Yes, you just completed a full set of back and shoulders, but what are you strengthening your back and shoulders for? If you don't have an immediate answer to that, or if the answer is a bit abstract such as "to be in shape" it is hard to stay motivated and stick with an exercise routine.

BJJ offers an immediate context to put each workout into. You will be able to practice, and perfect each move you learn for the purpose of the art form and for the sport. Each time you learn one tiny lesson that helps you gain an advantage, it feels amazing, and it promotes self learning, which in turn promotes adherence to an exercise routine.

Practical Self Defense

Jiu Jitsu is a sport of effectiveness and efficiency over reckless strength. Each move has an intentional purpose, and must be performed well under all circumstances. 

We will teach you how to utilize your own body weight to out leverage larger opponents or assailants. We will do this by teaching you all about the mechanics of the human body, how to maximize its strength and exploit your opponents weaknesses. 

Jiu Jitsu gives you the ability to handle any situation, even if the odds are not in your favor, or you get caught in a vulnerable position. If you study the techniques, you will always have an advantage .
